READ THE REPORT

This year is a big election year in Pennsylvania with seats up for grabs in the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, a Congressional special election, the Governor and Lt. Governor, PA Senate and PA House. It’s more important than ever to ensure that candidates prioritize pre-k.

Did you know that Pennsylvania ranks 18th out of 30 states that make public investments in high-quality pre-k? This is despite having increased its per capita investment by $30 million for the current fiscal year. In fact, Pennsylvania lags behind our neighbors – New Jersey is spending five times more per capita for pre-k than PA. West Virginia, which launched its pre-k program in 1983 and made it universal for all four-year-olds six years ago, is investing at three times the rate per capita than we do. If our neighboring states can prioritize pre-k, why not PA?
